Mother’s Day OUT
For the most part, today went off without a hitch. Well, if I discount my three year old daughter using black shoe polish as finger paint on the coffee table, my five year old son fixing to have a heart attack over whether or not we were going to miss NASCAR while taking mommy out for lunch, then yeah, we hit a high note.
After taking a much needed stop at Grin’s in San Marcos, where we scarfed down lunch (and mommy tossed back a well appreciated margarita), the family high tailed it out to the Hill Country. In search of some scenic views we found ourselves in Wimberely, a small town with Austinite quirks, rolling hills, and Cypress Creek, a bucolic river that houses more sticks than mommy was willing to tow home.
At any rate, it’s not a walk in the park being a mom. But when those tiny smiles have eyes only for you, there’s nowhere else in the world you’d rather be. After all this time, I’m still mesmerized by those small moments when my son’s biggest high is over finding a five foot stick, or when my daughter falls head over heels at tossing rocks into the water. So motherhood, there’s no need to worry. I’m still into you.
